For us, Umut Toraman and Fikret Caylak, caring for and guiding children is a calling. With great patience, attention, and affection, we build strong trust with the children – this is the most important basis of our work. We want to take time for each child and address their individual needs. Our goal is to create a family-like atmosphere where children and parents feel comfortable. "Tolle Erdlinge" is intended for parents who desire a family-style care setting.
In our childcare facility, we care for up to 10 children aged 1-6 years. Lovingly furnished rooms are available for personal development: a romping room, a playroom, and a quiet room. Children have the opportunity to withdraw, concentrate on one thing, play together, and learn respectful interaction. In the garden, children can freely express their creativity. We regularly visit nearby playgrounds, parks, and museums.
The aim of our work is not only care and supervision but also the individual promotion of linguistic, cognitive, and social skills, as well as movement education. We use various materials for all age groups and for artistic and musical activities. We consider the children's wishes and needs when planning the daily routine, outings, and meal plans. Hygiene and a healthy, varied diet are important components of our daily routine. Our work aims to impart values, rules, and norms to the children.
Special and individual support for each child is paramount in their development.
Perception: Optical, tactile, and acoustic perception.
Language & Cognition: General language use, problem-solving through communication, question-answer games, sound repetition, role-playing, painting to music, reading aloud, picture books, experiencing nature. We work according to Maria Montessori's principle: "Help me to do it myself, but don't do it for me!"
Social Contact: Building trust, harmonious interaction, accepting boundaries, conflict resolution without physical aggression, tolerance of other cultures.
Movement Education: Gross and fine motor skills through movement games, sports equipment, gripping games, and crafts.
Music & Design: Daily time for music and movement, use of instruments, singing, early musical education.
A "language learning diary" is used to document the child's development for targeted support. Parents are informed about their child's current development in individual discussions. The language learning diary is kept confidential and given to parents at the end of their time at the daycare.
Meals are prepared in our kitchen using exclusively fresh and healthy products.
A close partnership is very important to us. We plan parent evenings, parent-teacher conferences as needed, regular information exchange, and joint festivals and projects. Wishes and needs should be communicated openly. Parents and caregivers maintain confidentiality regarding personal matters of the other party.
The settling-in period follows the Berlin Model and lasts approximately 6 weeks, depending on the child's individuality. This includes an informational meeting, a gradual introduction to the facility with parents, and a stepwise separation until the child accepts the caregiver. The transition to school is also prepared in cooperation with parents.
We regularly participate in local meetings, work closely with the Youth Welfare Office (Jugendamt), and ensure our quality through regular further training (e.g., at Familienfuerkinder.de, Tempelhofer Forum).
It is our duty to protect our children from all forms of violence and abuse. Through careful observation and documentation, we can recognize child endangerment at an early stage and take appropriate measures. We encourage children to speak openly about their feelings and follow the guidelines of the Youth Welfare Office (Jugendamt).
